Who Is Designing
Daniel’s Den
Playground?

Leathers and Associates, Inc., Ithaca, NY, came
to Lancaster in May 2007 to meet with children in two elementary schools to gather their ideas and dreams for the ultimate playground. Leathers has prepared an exclusive design for us! They
have created Cocoa Castle in Hershey, Possibility Place in Harrisburg, and Imagination Station
in Enola, as well as 1,600 other playgrounds
worldwide. Special care is emphasized to
guarantee that the playground will be accessible to ALL children and their families.

Denise Haldeman, initiator, says, “Daniel’s Den
Playground was envisioned because of our son,
Daniel, and our desire to have him experience
childhood to the fullest, regardless of his
abilities. Daniel experienced difficulties at local playgrounds, and he needs swings with supports and ramps that lead somewhere. I realized
that there are many other families in Lancaster County who share similar challenges. Our goal is to create a playground where ALL children can play together and to foster understanding and acceptance among children.”

Where Is This
Playground Going
  To Be Located?

Located on the campus of Manor Church,
530 Central Manor Road, south of Mountville, Daniel’s Den Playground is raising $375,000 and we need 1,000 volunteers to assist us in making this community dream a reality.
We need people just like you who care about families and children to join our efforts.

What Makes
Daniel’s Den
Playground Special?

Daniel’s Den is special because it will be created
so all children, regardless of abilities, can play
together side by side. Daniel’s Den Playground
will be filled with fun, creative playground
equipment that will foster learning through imaginative play. Physical limitations will not be barriers to fun at Daniel’s Den. The playground will comply with the strictest safety and environmental guidelines, and the construction phase will be monitored by experiencedprofessionals. The building of the playground has been accepted as a project by
The Foundation for Enhancing Communities.
